"You can excuses or results but not both!"
After knowing Sara on a personal level and experiencing the passion she has for training and life outside the gym, it was made clear that Sara was an easy pick for our May Athlete of the Month. Sara has high expectations for herself and her drive is contagious. Since the day she walked into CrossFit Gastonia, she has progressed by leaps and bounds and still puts in the hard work day in and out.  It is safe to say that Sara has not only put in the hard work but has found other ways to continuously ignite her competitive nature! You can usually find her training for an upcoming competition or working on some gymnastics. We are so thankful to have Sara and the Reynolds family a part of our CrossFit family, you truly are a constant role model and ultimate encourager to others.

"Sara, man has she changed physically and mentally in the last year. She is an amazing competition/training      partner, friend, and supporter! Sara constantly keeps me on my toes. Its been awesome to see her grow!"
                                                                                    -Coach Sara S.

Take a minute and learn more about Sara!

1. How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
Chad, my husband, first introduced me to CrossFit. He convinced me to start going as part of a "deal" we had made (he has yet to live up to his end of the bargain. You can ask him about it!). I jumped straight into a class my first time. The coaches were entertaining and helpful, the other athletes were encouraging, and everyone made me feel very comfortable to be there! I was hooked!

2. What is your favorite exercise/lift and what is your biggest foe?

I love a good overhead squat and wall balls! Shoulder presses (all kinds!) are my least favorite!

3. What is your proudest CrossFit Accomplishment?
It's a tie between entering and competing in my first competition (2016 Goddess Games with Sara Sumner) and getting my first pull-up!

4. What goals have you set for yourself 6 months-1 year out?
One goal that I have for myself is to enter and compete in a competition as an individual in the RX division. In the long term, I want to be able to perform every RX movement of the 2018 CF Open (reaching high, I know!).

5. What do you love most about the CFG Family?

I love the community! People know one another and care about one another. Everyone is extremely supportive of one another both in and out of the box! This is a place that I am proud to be a part of and I have come to think of CFG and everyone here as an extension of my family! I love sweating and suffering with these people!

6. When you aren't at the box training, what can we find you doing?
At work teaching, meal prepping, playing with and cleaning up after Caroline.

7. What keeps you motivated/inspired- quote/person
There are several things that keep me motivated and inspired! First and foremost is my family! If I am not my best version of myself, I can't be there 100% for my family and there has been nothing more mentally, physically, or emotionally beneficial for me than CrossFit.
I am also motivated by the new members that come to CFG. I love seeing those who are new to crossfit grow in their fitness and love of crossfit! The more others grown, the more I am inspired to continue pushing myself to grow! I also may or may not routinely look at the sign above the whiteboard that says "You can excuses or results but not both!"
